Winter Hopes (Seasons of Love #2) by Jennifer Gracen

winter hopes

This is the second book in the Seasons of Love series by Jennifer Gracen.

Sam and Lydia return in the second installment of the series. Sam has, by the end of the book, flown to New York a few times to see Lydia. It’s two weeks before Christmas and he wants to spend Christmas with her. The question is, does she want to do that or is this just a fling to her.

Lydia has had to face new challenges with her son Andy. We know he is speech impaired. She gets a call one day while she’s teaching from the pre-school principal wanting a meeting with her the next day and she understands why when they explain what’s going on. So Andy is being sent to a new school. It takes him a while to adjust but things become better. He is learning more words and is talking better thanks to this new “special education” school that he is going too.

His father, Matt, is BEYOND pissed when Lydia tells him. She waits until he’s already enrolled and going to be starting at the new school. He is furious with her and sticks up for wanting to help make decisions for Andy, which shocks her as he’s never wanted that responsibility before. But Matt is full of surprises when it comes to Andy anymore.

For the first time in a long time, at least eleven years, Lydia is truly happy. And it’s because of Sam that she is. But does she really want something serious after just having signed the divorce papers?

I really like Jennifer Gracen’s writing style. Her characters are ones you come to love and can’t wait to find out what is going on with them. This book is just as good as the first one. I can’t wait for the third book!
