Twenty-Eight and a Half Wishes (Rose Gardner Mystery #1) by Denise Grover Swank

Meet Rose Gardner. A twenty-four year old clerk that works at the DMV. Normal, right? Nope, not Rose. She has visions. They have never been about her or anything big. Until she meets a man with the last name of Crocker. She has the unfortunate task of processing his paperwork. While doing so, she has a vision and ends up passing out. He runs before she comes too.

Her boss sends her home for the day. Not wanting to go home and deal with her mother, she goes to her sisters house. She leaves her sisters house and goes home. Everything is fine that day. The next day all hell breaks loose in the town…….and everything centers around Rose. The next day she gets tired of listening to her mother order her around like she’s done for every day of her life. She stands up to her. She leaves her house, goes to the library, the park and to get something to eat. Returning home, she finds her mother murdered along with the phone lines and power lines cut.

She goes next door to her neighbors and he calls the police. Word gets around the little town fast and before the police get there, a lot of the residents are sequestered around their house. She is suspect number one and remains so until the end of the book. Rose gets pulled into other things along the way that make her look more suspicious.

There is plenty in this book to make you laugh, cry and keep reading until the very end. I can’t wait to be able to get the second book in the series.
