It’s a Waverly Life (The (Mis)Adventures of Waverly Bryson 2) by Maria Murnane

It's a Waverly Life (The (Mis)Adventures of Waverly Bryson Book 2) by [Murnane, Maria]

Amazon Description: Readers first met the irrepressible Waverly Bryson in Perfect on Paper, and now the woman dubbed by fans “the American Bridget Jones” is back in a sequel packed with friendship, heartache, and romance.

The formerly heartbroken singleton is now happily enmeshed in a new relationship, a new job, and a new decade. Her career as an advice columnist is taking off, and the future of her fledgling greeting-card line is bright. Of course, where Waverly goes, drama is sure to follow, and this time is no exception. Her broken engagement has left her gun-shy when it comes to love, putting strain on her long-distance relationship with handsome Jake McIntyre. And when her best friends both make life-changing announcements, Waverly fears she is being left behind by the ones she loves most.

In true Waverly fashion, things must get comically worse before they can get better. But in the end, she discovers that though life (before and after thirty) may be messy and unpredictable, friendship and love make it all worthwhile.

It’s a Waverly Life is the 2nd book in the (Mis)Adventures of Waverly Bryson series by author Maria Murnane.

This book is just as good as the first, if not better. Waverly is still a hot mess but in a good way. Andie and Makenna are still awesome. We still have several of the people from the first book making appearances and a few new people as well. My favorite person has got to be Andie and her tell it like it is attitude.

Waverly and Jake are still friends and possibly more but things go from bad to worse to who the hell knows what before we finally realize what the heck is going on. Throw into the mix a bunch of misunderstandings, a few wrong timings and you have the recipes for disaster.

Andie, Makenna and Scott are all there for Waverly as she needs their help a lot as well as a couple new people. The characters in this series could EASILY be based off of ordinary people like you and I. (Kinda makes me wonder if anything mentioned has happened to the author. 😉 )

At about 275 pages, this book is the perfect length for everything that needs to be covered. And that’s a lot coming from me. I ALWAYS want more pages in a book but this book is the right length.

#Rev (GearShark #2) by Cambria Hebert

rev

#Rev is the second book in the GearShark series by Cambria Hebert. This book continues Drew and Trent’s story. If you are against M/M romances, please discontinue reading and find another book to check out. 🙂

Amazon Review: Trent Mask puts the REV in revolution.
A line has been drawn.
Indie vs Pro
Here at GearShark, we’re straddling that line to bring you exclusive coverage of what some have dubbed the war of racing.
Every war starts with a spark and ends in revolution.
Drew Forrester was the spark,
but his second-in-command is the REVolution.
What does it take to stand brave in the face of opposition?
Resolve of steel…
Stubborn will…
And a heart that refuses to give up.
It isn’t just the drivers in this war.
The revolution is about more than just racing.
It’s about shattering labels and taking risks.
So we asked Trent Mask: Truth or Dare?
His answer?
Both.

This book picks up where #Junkie left off. Trent trying to break up with Drew and Drew not accepting it. They have to fight hard for their relationship. There are so many people against them, but the ones that matter want them to be together and be happy. Romeo, Rimmel, Ivy and Braeden all accept them and have known there was a pull between them for a while.

Ivy and Drew’s parents, Trent’s mom and more are unaccepting. But there are WAY more accepting people of them. Trent and the family devise a plan to get back at the four guys who jumped Trent. Drew does his own hacking thing and takes care of two of them. Trent and Drew end up doing an article for GearShark once they come out to Ron Gamble, who accepts them and thinks it would be good for both of their careers.

Trent hands over the reigns of Omega to Jack and then walks away from Omega.

There’s a lot that happens in this book. I laughed and cried and could SEE everything playing out like a movie in my head as I read this book. And let me tell you, it was HOT, SEXY and STEAMY! I couldn’t put this book down. I read it in one sitting and just couldn’t get enough.

Not only was like a movie while reading, the dreams that I had were just as HOT. Let’s just say, I want a Drew and Trent. LOL If you like the underdogs and are pulling for them, this is a book to read. This book does have some descriptive sex scenes so if you’re not into it, don’t read.

#Junkie (GearShark #1) by Cambria Hebert

junkie

#Junkie  is the first book in the GearShark series by author Cambria Hebert. This series coincides with the Hashtag series. Same characters in this series but this isn’t a traditional m/f book. This IS a GAY romance so if you have issues with that, please don’t continue reading this review or read this book only to knock it.

———————————-

Amazon Description: Drew Forrester is a total adrenaline junkie.
His high of choice?
Cars.
The faster, the better.
He’s been making waves in Maryland’s underground racing circuit since he crossed the state line, and after speaking with him, we know he’s not hitting the brakes anytime soon.
So what exactly does it take to burn rubber and make a name for yourself in a world where the only rule is there are no rules?
You gotta be hungry…
You gotta have balls…
And you can never back down.
What’ve we learned here at GearShark?
Drew is all of the above.
We also know he’s got some secrets buried under his hood.
Secrets we think are loaded with octane and just might set the world of cars on fire.

——————————————————

I loved all the characters in the Hashtag series. I was excited when she announced she would be doing a continuation but focusing more on Drew and Trent. I have NOT been disappointed in this book.

Drew is Ivy’s brother. (Ivy is from the Hashtag series.) He lives in the house with two couples: Rimmel and Romeo and then Ivy and Braeden along with Ivy and Braeden’s daughter, Nova. He’s always felt like the fifth wheel but he loves them each nonetheless. Drew is a street car racer. He is fast and has been winning since he crossed into Maryland’s state lines.

Trent is the president of the Omega fraternity. He took over when Zack was dethroned in the Hashtag series. It’s been two years and the rep of the fraternity is finally looking up after all the hard work Trent and the other brothers have put in. There are two candidates to become the new President since this is Trent’s last year at the collage, Jack and Conner (Con). He hasn’t backed either one yet, waiting to see who deserves his support.

Trent and Drew are best friends and have been since sitting next to each other in Screamerz. They spend a lot of time together with Drew’s racing and working on his Mustang to keep it race ready. Romeo ended up getting Drew an appointment with Ron Gamble, to talk about joining his pro-racing team. Only Ron thinks that Drew is too “green” to go that route, instead wanting to start a new form of “legal” racing but with far less rules and more like the street races that Drew partakes in.

Things are going good for a while before shit hits the fan. And when I say it hits the fan, I mean it hits the fan. Things blow up between Trent and his Omega brothers and then between Trent and Drew.

I can’t wait to start reading the second book in this series. #Junkie did not disappoint me. I’m not normally into the M/M romances but since Cambria Hebert is one of my favorite authors, I thought I’d give it a go. I’m so glad I didn’t pass up on this book. It was HOT and SEXY. I don’t know how she pulled this off but she did.

I  loved this book MORE than the Hashtag series books! And that’s hard to do because I loved them! Drew and Trent’s story brings to light some issues that gay people in the world have issues with. Society is progressing and having more acceptance of gay people but I can imagine that some of the stuff in here does still happen in today’s society. Which is sad in it’s own right.

I read this book in one sitting. I just couldn’t put it down. I didn’t WANT to put it down.

Praying for Grace (Grace #5) by M Lauryl Lewis

Praying for Grace

This is the fifth book in the Grace series by author M. Lauryl Lewis. This book was just as good as the rest but filled with TONS of surprises. This book shocked me from the beginning to the end. We gained some people but more was lost than gained. I like how the series ends but am hoping for another series. One that follows the baby, perhaps?

——————————-

Gus is back. He’s not dead like we all assumed he was. He was rescued by others who are infected and when he get’s stronger, they go to rescue Zoe and the others. Boggs and two others go on a scouting trip to get more supplies, especially for Emmett, the baby they found. Zoe stays in the lighthouse on the island with Emmett. Gus goes and saves them and takes them his new home. Zoe learns that he has a connection with a lady that lives there, one of the ones that picked her up actually. At first she’s jealous but then realizes Gus only wants her.

A girl ends up sick and turns. She kills her mother. Zoe and Gus are in the same bunker with Emmett. Zoe hears it first before waking Gus up. The lady Gus has the connection with ends up down there with them. When they emerge from their rooms, Gus gets Zoe and Emmett from the bunker. The girl runs through the bunker and there’s too many places to hide while it’s dark. Zoe runs and gets some other guards but not before hearing they were from the evacuation center and that they were after Zoe and the baby she was pregnant with. (Yes, you read that right. Our Zoe is pregnant with baby number two.)

My Devouring Love #3: Surviving the Dead by Donna Neville-Theiler

Surviving the Dead

I’ve read four of the other books in this series, the first two books and two novellas that go with it. I really enjoy the works by this author. I will say, this book needs a little bit of editing done with it. There’s some punctuation and wrong words used but still a good read overall.

———————————

Jeremiah, Abby, Ava, Gary and others return. From book two we knew that Ava and one of the boys, Connor or Jeremiah, made it out of Connor’s place unscathed while the other was bitten. But we didn’t know which was going to end up among the undead masses. They make it to where everyone else is, that survived the ambush anyways. Jeremiah goes on a run with Gary, Marshall and Tyler while Connor stays laid up in the office of the warehouse they’re in. Connor ends up perishing a few hours later but not before making Jeremiah promise he will keep Abby and Ava safe.

There’s so much going on that I just don’t know what to tell ya’ll and what not too. Abby, Jeremiah and Gary end up separated from everyone else but try to make it to the meet up point they had all designated. There are a lot of trials and errors before the end of this book.

———————————

There’s a lot of loss in this book. We loose several of our favorite and beloved characters, one of which is Connor. I won’t name anyone else that dies but just know that I cried a few times reading this book. I love this series. I’m pretty sure with the way it was left the series is over but I really hope there is more too it! I really hope this series doesn’t end the way this book leaves off. Don’t get me wrong, it’s a great point to stop it but I REALLY like this series and want it to keep going. Am I being selfish? I’ll admit to being that way when it comes to this series and wanting it to continue! 😀

Outlaw’s Bride: Grizzlies MC Romance (Outlaw Love) by Nicole Snow

Outlaw's Bride

This was an awesome book to read. What’s better than outlaws, MC’s and romance combined into one? This steamy romance will leave you needing a cold shower when you’re finished reading.

Sally works on her uncle’s farm with her cousin Norm and other workers. She is also the only one who her uncle sends to the Grizzlies MC shop when he needs one of the vehicles fixed. Sally has one of the trucks in the shop. Roman, the mechanic who worked on the truck, is the one who takes her back and shows her what was fixed. Right then and there he takes her virginity in the truck and she absolutely loves it.

Roman warns her that he never gets with the same woman twice. But with her, he’s hooked. They spend a great week together before he ends up having to do some “club business”. (Let’s just say this excuse is used a lot.) She doesn’t hear from him for a week and decides to go to the clubhouse. One of the older members gives her an address where she can write to him in jail. But she doesn’t write. Two years he’s in there. That means two years she doesn’t hear from him and two years he doesn’t hear from her.

It takes a couple weeks after he gets out before she goes to the clubhouse. There’s something he needs to know and she’s not really sure how he’ll take it. I’m sure you can all guess what that means. Yep, she was pregnant and had his child. But Roman wants nothing to do with her. He ends up walking away from her without her telling him about his son. She yells at him and throws a beer bottle at him that barely misses him and then she walks out of the clubhouse.

They are thrust back together when her cousin shows her a hidden bunker on their land that the drug cartels are using to store stuff. The Grizzlies have been having problems with the cartel so Sally goes to Blackjack, the president. He agrees to help with security on the farm and to help find anymore bunkers on the land. Things are going okay until Roman walks in on Beam and Sally one day. Rules were that NO members were supposed to be in the house for any reason. Roman flips at seeing one of his brothers with his woman even though he hasn’t said anything to her since they both walked away. Roman throws Beam out and then hears the baby crying. He takes off upstairs where the cries are coming from and then he realizes the truth.

Sally is thrust into the MC life after Roman makes her pack a bag of stuff for her and Caleb, the baby. But what happens after she is forced from the family farm? Who all lives and dies? Who is the traitor in the club and who almost takes the fall for the traitor with no one believing him?

——————————

I LOVED reading this book. Romance, erotica, badassery. All in one book. This book will DEFINITELY leave you needing either a cold shower or your own romp in the sheets! I’ve heard of the author, Nicole Snow, before but hadn’t read any of her books until now. I will definitely be keeping her as a too read author!

Chasers by H. W. Vivian

chasers

I found this book while browsing on Amazon and the cover captured my attention. After reading the description, I knew I just had to read this book. And a great choice it was.

Shelby, the main female protagonist, is a bully of sorts. But only to one person, May. May has the attention of the one guy that Shelby wishes would notice her, Gary. All three of them are connected in one major way. They are called “conditionals”. Each of them was born with a stone at the base of their spines. May and Gary were each born with emeralds while Shelby was born with a ruby. There is only one ruby born each generation and they have the biggest burden to bear.

Each “conditional” must go through an obstacle. They never know what it is or when it will hit. But they must go through it. You see, these “conditionals” can not walk on the Earth with their bare feet. A curse was set upon all descendants of a few family lines. As long as they hadn’t repaid their debts to the Spirit Man, then they would not be able to touch the Earth without being swallowed up and dying. Shelby, Gary and May had no idea what this debt was or why they were even targeted.

Towards the end of the book, Shelby’s father ends up telling her the tale of generations past and of how the children were born with stones in their spines. Shelby realizes what her obstacle is. She finds Gary and May and they start it together since that is what fate planned. They are eventually split up in the course of each of their obstacles. Who lives and who dies? What is the legend that surrounds how “conditionals” were created? And in what way is each of their debts repaid to the Spirit Man?

————————–

I enjoyed reading this book. I was entranced from the first page to the last. This is a unique story and I haven’t read anything similar to it before. There are many characters in this book and each of them plays a different role. My favorite would have to be Tyler who is only in bits and pieces of  the book for the males and the female would have to be May. Most, not all, of the characters in the book are likeable and you root for them through the entire book. I was saddened by a few of the deaths in the book but I see how it was necessary and added an extra element to the book.

Aimee and the Bear (Fairy Tales with a Shift) by Cara Wylde

Aimee and the Bear

This book is based on the fairy tale Beauty and the Beast. Cara Wylde is an author that I just love to read.

Aimee and her family used to be rich but when her father’s merchandise ships went down in a storm, they lost all their income and lost everything. Now they sell things at the market most days in order to make money to survive after having to move out of town. One thing Aimee notices is how all the women want real roses, not ones grown in a greenhouse. This is particularly saddening to her because they only grow in one place and everyone is too scared to go there and get them. Except her.

Aimee goes for a walk one Sunday afternoon. She goes to the abandoned mansion and takes an armload of flowers. She gets curious and goes inside the mansion which is a huge mistake. She ends up thrown in a cell and left there. Eventually the beast makes a deal with her and lets her out. Each night, in her dreams, she is visited by an amazingly sexy man. Each day she spends it with the bear and exploring the mansion.

—————————————-

This book might be short but I like this version of Beauty and the Beast almost better than the original version. Aimee is a great female character and I like the outcome of this story. I wish it would have been longer but hey, we can’t have it all can we? lol

Dead Drunk II: Dawn of the Deadbeats (Dead Drunk: Surviving the Zombie Apocalypse… One Beer at a Time Book 2) by Richard Johnson

Dead Drunk 2

Dead Drunk 2: Dawn of the Deadbeats is the second book in the Dead Drunk: Surviving the Zombie Apocalypse series by Richard Johnson. The first book was a great read with all the twists and turns in it. I couldn’t wait to get this book.

Charlie, Smokey, Big Rob, Trent, Left-Nut and more return in the second installment. This book not only follows the guys from the first book, but we also get a look at what happened to their counterparts during the bachelorette party and afterwards. New people join up with them.

There are a lot of shenanigans in this book that go beyond the ones in the first book. Trent and Russ end up in a lot of different predicaments that had me laughing through the book. Charlie was caught up in just as many. I did more laughing with this book than I did the first one.  We know that from the first book, the Chinese have invaded America and are systematically killing zombies and living people as well. They aren’t discriminating.

Charlie and company save two of the Chinese soldiers from being murdered by their own captain and they join Charlie. They both prove to be great additions. They don’t speak English just like the others don’t speak Korean. Yes, Korean. It comes out that they are Korean soldiers made to work under the Chinese so it does make sense. 😉 (No, I’m not losing my mind.) They name the soldiers Ping and Pong because it’s easier to remember.

During the course of their journey, a disfigured nun joins them and she proves to be an okay addition to the group. Also, the man who took out Big Rob in a rigged match joins the group against Rob’s judgement. But, he proves himself in a big way. We lost several of the members of the group along the way and there were some other sad points, especially for Charlie and Big Rob.

———————————–

This is a good book. I especially liked reading about the girls and their misgivings and their journey and how they eventually connect up with part of the group. This book has more characters to follow but it flows nicely from one group to another. The girls are pretty badass and I really wasn’t expecting that. I thought the author was going to make them “soft” and they would die quickly but they didn’t, which I enjoyed. A great book if you want a zombie story.

Play with Me (With Me in Seattle #3) by Kristen Proby

play with me

This is the third book in the With Me series by Kristen Proby. This story follows Will Montgomery and Meg. We previously met Will in the first two books and we catch a glimpse of Meg in book two.

Meg is a nurse in the cancer ward for teenagers. Will is a professional football player. Meg thinks he is a stuck up asshole but eventually learns differently. She has sent many requests to the PR representative for Wills football team to show up and surprise the kids. However, the PR rep never passes the request on to the team members.

When Will and some of the other players find out, they show up at the hospital with a bunch of gear for the kids. Will becomes quick friends with a kid named Nick, who happened to be a football player for his HS team until he was a junior when he took a hard hit and ended up in the hospital where his cancer was discovered.

Meg eventually gives in and starts dating Will. Will is Jules’ brother and Meg was her and Natalie’s best friend in college. So they are all being brought back together again. Meg keeps thinking that she isn’t enough for Will until she has a talk with Jules and it puts everything in perspective for her.

Things get worse before they get better.
