Spring Shadows (Seasons of Love #3) by Jennifer Gracen

Lydia, Sam and others from the first two books reappear in the next to last book of the series.

Lydia and Sam have been dating now for a few months. Things are going good. Matt is taking Andy for a few days while Lydia goes to Chicago to spend Christmas with Sam. Only Matt didn’t know that Lydia was leaving. When he finds her suitcase ready to go, he gets pissed off. I mean seriously pissed off. They fight it out right there in her bedroom in her apartment while Andy plays in his room.

Matt takes Andy and leaves. Lydia goes to the airport and spends her few days in Chicago. Sam comes to New York a few days later to spend New Years there with here. There is a ten day vacation from school coming up. Lydia’s family is all getting together in Florida where her parents live. Only she refuses to go there.

So Jane sends Sam an email and suggests a place they can vacation. Lydia loves the vacation that they share with Andy as he goes with them instead of staying with his father. Lydia is in Chicago when it is Sam’s mother’s birthday. He springs a big announcement on his family but it wasn’t news to Lydia as they had already talked. But things get very bad, very quick because Alec turns into the prick that we all have come to know him to be. (He admits he’s a prick so I can call him this. 🙂 )

I LOVE this book. I received an ARC copy and read it immediately. The things that come up in Sam and Lydia’s relationship could be things that happen in present relationships. This book made me CRY in parts. I rarely cry while reading a book but this one made me! It is a great book and I HIGHLY recommend this book.

This book will have you glued to the pages and rooting for them through the struggles and triumphs in their relationship as well as the things that happen to them individually. Jennifer Gracen has made a whole cast of character who are life-like and could pass as you and I.

Winter Hopes (Seasons of Love #2) by Jennifer Gracen

winter hopes

This is the second book in the Seasons of Love series by Jennifer Gracen.

Sam and Lydia return in the second installment of the series. Sam has, by the end of the book, flown to New York a few times to see Lydia. It’s two weeks before Christmas and he wants to spend Christmas with her. The question is, does she want to do that or is this just a fling to her.

Lydia has had to face new challenges with her son Andy. We know he is speech impaired. She gets a call one day while she’s teaching from the pre-school principal wanting a meeting with her the next day and she understands why when they explain what’s going on. So Andy is being sent to a new school. It takes him a while to adjust but things become better. He is learning more words and is talking better thanks to this new “special education” school that he is going too.

His father, Matt, is BEYOND pissed when Lydia tells him. She waits until he’s already enrolled and going to be starting at the new school. He is furious with her and sticks up for wanting to help make decisions for Andy, which shocks her as he’s never wanted that responsibility before. But Matt is full of surprises when it comes to Andy anymore.

For the first time in a long time, at least eleven years, Lydia is truly happy. And it’s because of Sam that she is. But does she really want something serious after just having signed the divorce papers?

I really like Jennifer Gracen’s writing style. Her characters are ones you come to love and can’t wait to find out what is going on with them. This book is just as good as the first one. I can’t wait for the third book!

Autumn Getaway (Seasons of Love #1) by Jennifer Gracen

autumn getaway

Lydia was going on a small three day “vacation” so that she could attend her best friend, Melanie’s wedding. The catch, everyone wanted to know about her first. She was recently divorced. So recent in fact, it happened three days prior to her arriving at the hotel. And she has a three and a half year old son who is speech impaired.

Lydia left her son with her ex-husband and went on the retreat. As soon as she is standing at the counter checking in, she meets a guy. So, here we go with the instant romance, right? WRONG. It wasn’t an instant romance like most authors do. Sam, the guy, had to work to get Lydia to open up to him and talk to him. It was a gradual liking for Lydia.

But does Sam share her feelings? Why would Sam want anything more than a one night stand? Does Lydia decide to do what her friends want her to do and hook up with Sam while at this wedding celebration weekend?

To find out these answers, and more, please get this book and read it.

Jennifer Gracen is an author that is new to me. I have never heard of her or read any of her books before. I am glad that I received this book and started to read it.

I can see myself somewhat in Lydia’s situation. Lydia is a character that MANY people could relate too. She is a newly single mom, raising her son mostly on her own. She puts her sons happiness before her own. This fits me and hits home with me because I am a single mother to a daughter and I put her happiness before mine. So I relate to this main character.

All of the characters that Jennifer wrote into this book are believable. I would be hard pressed for others to read this book and not identify, or at least understand, where some of the characters are coming from.

I highly recommend this book. I have the second book in this series and will be reading it as well.
